By now, most of you will know about the upcoming Tailgate BC event scheduled to go down in Revelstoke BC March 8 - 12, 2012. What you may not know is that most participants will have the opportunity to name a run if they fly with Eagle Pass Heli.

The Holy Grail for sale?
Once you have become an experienced backcountry user, there is a natural inclination towards riding powder - to find that powder you often have to travel, be patient, know where you are heading and often go deep. Hence this site and its popularity in the core community.
In fact, many consider the goal of their quest to find and ride powder to go where no one has ridden before - the first descent. They have made movies about it, people obsess about it and frankly it is one of the most elusive goals in all of wintersports - until now.
Eagle Pass Heli in Revelstoke BC was granted a new land tenure this year consisting of thousands of acres of brand new, never ridden, untouched terrain.

This is a land of first descents - places that have never been touched by P-tex and are vast, challenging and deep.
For example on a recent trip to Eagle Pass, I had the opportunity to ride 11 runs, 6 of which had only been ridden once by Travis Rice and his crew and 5 first descents. That is right, 5 first descents in a day in BC in 2012.
Talking with the owner/operator of Eagle Pass, Scott Newsome, he has plenty of amazing terrain that he is holding on to for the Tailgate BC. Perhaps for the first time ever, riders will have the access to throwing down runs in terrain usually reserved for the most extreme, professional or richest people.
Tailgate BC will be coming to Revelstoke this spring to offer free backcountry education, snow science classes, snowmobile lessons and mentorship for those getting into the backcountry scene. It promises to be a remarkable event that will be talked about for years to come.
Tickets and heli seats are limited so go to their website and check out the details.
Powder to the people!

The first descent terrain at Eagle Pass - legit.
